This
is one of my earliest songs, but I still enjoy singing it
occasionally and it exposes how I understood my romantic
problems in my mid-twenties. I’m proud that Kevin Russel <link
to www.kevinrussellmusic.com> recorded it as “Been
Here Before” on his (unnumbered) 2005 album, Trouble
in Mind.

CHORUS
I’ve been here before, and I’ll be here again
I know this part --- it’s where I came in
She likes me fine, but just as a friend
I’ve been here before, and I’ll be here again
I don’t know why I pick ‘em like I do, but I do
The girls I get a hanker for are never ready too
They’re much too young to settle down, they only want
to play
They’ve got some other fellow, or they live three states
away
CHO
I’d hate to be a bachelor the balance of my life
I need a home, a couple of kids, and a warm and loving wife
But if things keep working out like all the times before
I’ll be alone when I can’t cut the mustard anymore
